A genuine love of language

I grew up speaking Portuguese and I never stopped thinking about it. How it works, why it sounds the way it does, what makes it so different from Spanish even when the words look similar on the page.

That curiosity turned into a career. I have spent many years teaching Portuguese to adults, children, corporate teams, and every kind of learner in between. My students range from complete beginners to people who grew up hearing Portuguese at home and want to reclaim it properly.

Every course I teach is European Portuguese. This matters more than it might seem. European Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese are different languages in practice: different pronunciation, different rhythm, different vocabulary in everyday conversation. If your goal is citizenship, travel to Portugal, or connection with a Portuguese family, European Portuguese is what you need.

The method

What I know after years of teaching is this: language learning works when it is personal. When the lessons are built around what you actually need, not a syllabus that was designed for the average student who does not exist.

So that is how I work. We start with a conversation. I find out where you are and where you want to get to. Then we build from there.

I teach entirely online via Zoom. Whether you are in Johannesburg, Cape Town, a small town three hours from anywhere, or another country altogether, we can make it work.

My hope is that through Portuguese, you connect more deeply: with a country, with clients, with family, with a version of yourself you have not met yet.
